From ranch and bacon jam to Irish relish and real cheddar: the flavours that finish your dish
Sauces, relishes and toppings for foodservice
In short
- LA Streetfood supplies sauces, relishes and toppings for foodservice: from American mustard, ranch and BBQ to Irish relishes by Ballymaloe, warm cheese sauce and fresh toppings.
- A sauce brings flavour and creaminess, a relish brings bite and freshness, a topping finishes the plate.
- For burger bars, food trucks, lunch venues and restaurants serving American or streetfood dishes.
- In foodservice packaging, often in a squeeze bottle or bucket, and ready to serve. You can always request a sample.
Two businesses can use the same patty and still serve a completely different dish. That difference comes from the sauce you choose, the relish you add and the cheese that melts over it. At LA Streetfood you will find the American classics such as American Mustard, Ranch Dressing and Bacon Jam, alongside the Irish relishes from Ballymaloe that your guests will not taste anywhere else.
Combine them with your burgers, hot dogs and buns or with your Mexican dishes, and finish with the right seasonings.
Which sauce, relish or topping do you choose?
Irish relishes from Ballymaloe
In Ireland there is a pot of relish on the table with almost every pub burger. Ballymaloe makes them in Cork, following the same recipe since the 1960s: lightly sweet, well spiced and homemade in style. Tomato and Pepper Relish are the two staples, in a bucket for volume or in a squeeze bottle for garnishing. Red Root and Tropical Mango are the surprising ones, equally at home on a cheese board or over a salad. And if you are after a sauce rather than a relish, there is the creamy Burger Sauce and the Irish Stout Sauce.
American sauces
In America a burger or hot dog is built with several flavours at once: sweet, sour, creamy and smoky all together. That is exactly what these sauces do. American Mustard and Sweet Pickle Relish make a hot dog taste American, and Ranch Dressing is the dip for wings and onion rings as well as the dressing through your coleslaw. For the grill there is Hickory BBQ, full and smoky, and Spicy Chipotle, a little hotter. Hemp Sauce and Bacon Jam are the two that make you stand out: vegan and nutty, or sweet and savoury with Irish bacon.
Mexican sauces
Mexican dishes often revolve around one warm sauce that holds everything together. The Authentic Mexican Cheese Sauce is exactly that: a thick queso with pieces of real chilli, over nachos, loaded fries or a smashburger. The Birria Taco Consommé is the stock behind the taco trend of recent years; you dip your tortilla in it and fold it over on the griddle. Both arrive frozen, so you only thaw what you need. The rest of your Mexican basics have their own page.
Toppings
What you put on a burger decides how it looks and how it tastes. With cheese it depends on what you are doing with it: Real Irish Cheddar comes as slices of genuine matured cheddar for a burger or a sandwich, while the grated MexMix is blended for melting quality and so melts evenly under the salamander. The bacon is pre-cooked and only needs warming through, the New York style caramelised onions are soft and sweet-sour, and the American Dill Pickles bring the fresh bite that balances a rich dish.
Recipes with sauces, relishes and toppings
With the right sauce you put a recognisable streetfood dish on your menu in no time. The Chicago Style Hotdog shows what mustard and relish do for a hot dog, and the Authentic Birria Tacos show what a warm sauce does for your menu.

Frequently asked questions about sauces, relishes and toppings
What is the difference between a sauce and a relish?
A sauce is smooth and spreads across your dish; a relish is coarser, with pieces of vegetable or fruit, and gives bite. That is why a sauce works well inside the bun and a relish works as a topping.
What is the minimum I need for a burger and hot dog menu?
American Mustard, a tomato relish, a creamy sauce such as Burger Sauce or Ranch, plus cheddar, bacon and pickles. Then add one that stands out, for example bacon jam or red root relish, and your menu has something of its own.
Which cheese should I choose: slices or grated?
Slices for a burger or a sandwich, where you want a real cheese flavour: that is the Real Irish Cheddar. Grated for gratinating nachos, quesadillas and enchiladas: that is what the MexMix is made for, with the right melting quality and elasticity.
What is the difference between relish and dill pickles?
Dill pickles are whole slices of pickled cucumber with bite, which you lay on a burger or sandwich as a topping. Relish is finely chopped and either sweet-sour or spicy, and you use it as a spreadable flavour maker.
Are there vegan options?
Yes. The Hemp Sauce is 100% vegan and the Ballymaloe relishes are plant-based at heart. Bacon, cheese, bacon jam and the warm cheese sauce are of course not. More under plant based innovation.
